This Returns, Refunds & Warranty Policy outlines your rights and obligations when purchasing goods from Space-man Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions and Shipping Policy.
We comply with the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights.
1. Change of Mind
Many of our products are custom-made, made-to-order, produced in limited quantities, or hand-finished. For this reason, we do not accept returns, cancellations, or refunds for change of mind.
Please review all product descriptions, materials, dimensions, lead times and care requirements before placing your order. If you are unsure, contact us at hello@space-man.studio prior to purchasing.
2. Proper Use & Care Requirements (Strict Conditions)
Space-man Studio products must be used strictly as intended and in accordance with all care, use, and installation instructions.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, our products are designed for:

Indoor use only

Dry environments free from moisture, humidity or condensation
-
Normal residential or commercial settings
-
Use on stable, level surfaces
-
Installation by a licensed professional (for electrical products)
Damage caused by the following is NOT considered a fault and is NOT eligible for refund, return, repair, replacement, or remedy:

Exposure to direct or prolonged sunlight
-
Exposure to heat sources (heaters, radiators, hot windows, appliances)
-
Water or moisture exposure, including steam and humidity
-
Breakage, chips, dents, scratches or marks caused after delivery
-
Incorrect cleaning practices (including abrasive cleaners, chemicals, or improper cloths)
-
Incorrect electrical installation, incompatible power supply, or overloading
-
Modifications, alterations or repairs not performed by Space-man Studio
-
Use of the product contrary to instructions, warnings or intended purpose
-
Accidental damage, mishandling, dropping, impact or pressure
Products damaged under these conditions are not eligible for any remedy under this policy.
3. Hand-made, Material & Finish Variations
Many Space-man Studio products involve manual processes and material-specific behaviours including:

Fused glass
-
Aluminium finishes
-
3D-printed PLA components
-
Timber, metal and composite materials
-
Hand-applied finishing processes
-
Small-batch production
The following characteristics are normal, expected, and NOT considered faults:

Variation in colour, tone, tint or opacity
-
Variation in texture, pattern or surface finish
-
Minor tool marks or handmade characteristics
-
Differences between items within the same batch
-
Natural patina, oxidation or ageing of materials
-
PLA layer lines, dimensional shifts or surface texture
-
Slight asymmetry or tolerances inherent to hand production
-
Changes in colour or finish over time due to exposure, wear or touch
These variations are part of the character and design intent of our work.
For this reason, returns will not be accepted due to natural variation or patina.
4. Product Ageing, Wear & Environmental Behaviour
Materials used in our products may age, patina or develop character over time.
This may occur quickly, subtly or noticeably depending on use and environment.
The following are NOT faults:

Patina formation on metals

Surface wear from regular handling
-
Fading or colour shift due to UV exposure
-
Material softening, curing or settling over time
-
Minor scratches or marks accumulated through normal use
Products that show ageing consistent with material properties or expected wear are not eligible for returns or refunds.
5. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Items (ACL-Compliant)
If your item arrives:

Faulty
-
Damaged in transit
-
Incorrect or not as described
You may be entitled to a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law.
You must notify us within 7 days of receiving your order and provide:

Your order number
-
Clear photographs of the item and packaging
-
A written description of the issue
We may request further evidence, an inspection, or return of the item.
Where a manufacturing defect is confirmed, remedies may include repair, replacement or refund, at our discretion in accordance with the ACL.
6. Items Not Eligible for Return or Refund
We cannot accept returns or provide refunds for:

Change of mind

Custom-made, made-to-order or limited-edition items

Items damaged through misuse, improper care or incorrect installation

Items exposed to conditions beyond recommended use

Sale or discounted items
-
Gift cards
-
Items altered after purchase
-
Items without proof of purchase

Items returned without prior approval
7. Risk After Delivery
Once the product has been delivered to the address provided at checkout, risk transfers to you.
We are not responsible for:

Damage occurring after successful delivery

Damage during unboxing or installation
-
Theft or loss after delivery
Please inspect your goods promptly upon receipt.
8. Return Process (Approved Returns Only)

Unauthorised returns will not be accepted.

Approved returns must be:

Unused and unaltered

In original condition
-
In original packaging
-
Returned with proof of purchase

Sent using tracked shipping
Returns that do not meet these conditions may be refused.
10. Return Shipping Costs
Unless the item is confirmed faulty under the ACL:

You are responsible for return shipping costs
-
Original shipping costs are non-refundable
Where a manufacturing defect is verified, we will reimburse reasonable return shipping costs.
We are not responsible for items lost or damaged during return transit.
11. Refund Processing
Once received and inspected, we will notify you of the outcome.
If a refund is approved:

Refunds are issued to your original payment method

Processing can take up to 10 business days
-
Additional delays may occur depending on your bank or payment provider
If you have not received your refund within 15 business days after approval, contact us.
12. Warranty Limitations
Space-man Studio provides warranty coverage in accordance with the ACL.
Warranty does not apply to:

Wear and tear
-
Patina, ageing or natural material behaviour
-
Damage from misuse, neglect or incorrect installation
-
Environmental exposure (sunlight, heat, moisture)
-
Modifications or repairs by third parties
-
Cosmetic imperfections consistent with handmade production
Where a fault is due to misuse or non-compliance with care requirements, no remedy will be offered.
13. European Union 14-Day Cooling-Off Period
If your order is delivered within the EU, you have the right to cancel within 14 days.
Returned items must be unused, unaltered, and in original packaging.
